"We need to talk first," Gawain replied, face still flushed.

Mordred laughed. "That's a bit of an understatement. But you have to remember she didn't grow up with the same teachings we did. Gawain's working on it."

Hilly looked at him "what is it?"

Mythian shook her head "of course, she's a gypsy. Thieves, and known for being improper, I can't believe you let her hold our child"

"Don't talk about our 'plans' with other people," he replied, trying to keep his tone gentle. "It's improper and awkward for everyone present."

"She isn't that bad, Myth," Mordred shrugged. "All she needs to do is learn certain boundaries. And it's not like she'll taint Ruth. We're just as likely to do that anyway."

Hilly frowned "what do you mean?"

Mythian shook her head "if she's not better soon I don't want her around my baby"

"I mean that it isn't polite to talk about when you are going to sleep with someone or how...fun it's going to be," Gawain explained.

Sighing, Mordred watched her. "It's not that bad, Myth."

Hilly frowned "why not? Everyone in the company does it"

Mythian looked at him "she's ...bottom of the heap Mordred! It's disgusting if you ask me"

"We aren't in the company, Hilly," Gawain sighed. "There are different rules and ways of looking at things here. You knew that when you chose to marry me, right?"

"Hmmm," he murmured before falling silent. Then, "Here's a question. Do you love me for me or do you love me for my status?"

Hilly shrugged and looked down "I didn't know every aspect of life would be different"

Mythian raised an eyebrow "I love you for you, but I would have never looked at you if you were a gypsy"

"I'm sorry it's not what you imagined," Gawain murmured, running his thumb across the back of her hand.

"That's my point," Mordred agreed. "We never would've met. We wouldn't have Ruth. Nothing would be this way. Would you want that?"

Hilly shook her head and looked at him "I'm trying"

Mythian considered for a moment "that does not matter, because it is unrealistic"

"I know you are," Gawain told her before stopping and pulling her into his arms. "I love you, Hilly. Don't ever forget that."

"That's not the point," Mordred argued. "If it was realistic, would you want that?"

Hilly leaned into him and put her face against his chest 'I know you do, and I love you"

Mythian turned away "don't ask me ridiculous questions"

Closing his eyes, Gawain pressed a kiss into her hair. "I couldn't ask for anything more, to be honest."

Blue eyes unreadable, Mordred shifted. "I'll take that as a yes."

"Then why must I learn?" Hilly asked quietly

Mythian looked at Mordred now "what do you want from me Mordred?"

"Because we need to be able to interact with the world," he sighed as if there was a weight on his shoulders. "I cannot escape my ties to nobility and you don't like when I come here alone."

Mordred met her gaze steadily. "I'm just trying to help you understand where Gawain is coming from. But I suppose that's not possible. Though, if you were the gypsy, I don't think I would ignore you simply because of your rank."

Hilly nodded miserably "I-I miss the company" she said quietly.

Mythian looked down "I'd never give up Ruth" she said finally.

Gawain winced. "You don't have to stay with me," he whispered. "You are free to travel with them if that is what you wish."

"Good to know," he smiled, but it didn't quite touch his eyes. He couldn't help but wonder what Mythian would have done if he hadn't been of noble rank, something that was feasible considering his step-father's reaction to the rumors. After seeing his memories earlier that morning, he felt more vulnerable and he hated it.

Hilly shook her head and clung to Gawain "I want you more"

Mythian looked at him "I wouldn't give you up either"

"We wouldn't be ending our marriage. You'd just have the freedom to travel with them," he replied, but he had to admit that he was relieved she wanted him more than the company. He tightened his arms.

Mordred kissed her cheek gently before stretching out on his side and gazing out the window. "Thanks, Myth."

Hilly shook her head "I want to stay with you"

Mythian nodded "are you angry with me?"

"Then stay," he smiled, watching her with gentle eyes. "You're always welcome at my side."

"No," he replied. "Sorry, I'm just a bit...distracted."

Hilly looked up at him "but not at everyone else's"

"By what?" Mythian asked slowly

Eyes hardening, he set his jaw. "I can't change them. It is up to them to decide whether or not they accept you. But at this point, I don't care." Expression softening he blushed faintly. "Just don't talk about our sex life, okay?"

"Life," Mordred shrugged, purposefully leaving his answer vague. "And exhaustion. I guess the training's catching up with me."

Hilly nodded "I'm sorry" she said and began walking again.

Mythian shook her head "what else._

"Forgiven," he laughed, keeping pace with her.

"Just some memories. Being back here is dragging them up," Mordred muttered, voice rough.

Hilly grinned "now we'll have fun!"

Mythian stroked his hair "what memories?"

"Now we'll have fun," Gawain agreed.

"How things were when I was a kid," Mordred breathed, closing his eyes at her touch. "They weren't always fun."

Hilly grinned and began running through the castle, on her way out she accidentally knocked over a potted plant, the vase crashed on e ground, but she only ran faster.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Mythian asked carefully.

Gawain hesitated before sprinting after her, moving easily around obstacles and soon he had passed her. With a grin, he burst into the courtyard and whirled to watch her join him.

Instantly Mordred went rigid. One person had already broken into his memories and he had no intention of letting anyone else know. "Not really."

Hilly attempted to run faster but tripped on her dress and the heels of her shoes broke off, them she fell to the ground, "ow!"

Mythian frowned "were married,,,your supposed to tell me things Mordred"
