"I value my life too much to tell," Mordred laughed.

Arthur chuckled "I suppose it must be something about your nights together" he clapped Mordred on the shoulder "She's a lovely woman"

Mordred started at the sudden contact, glancing at Arthur in surprise, but forced himself to relax. "I'm amazed she chose me," he admitted. "I'm lucky."

Arthur raised an eyebrow "your a prince, of course she chose you"

"One surrounded by rumors," Mordred reminded him. "And not the easiest person to get along with. Though, I guess I should've said I'm amazed she actually loves me."

Arthur nodded "how did you two meet?"

"On our way to school here in Camelot. I was on foot and she offered to let me ride with her and her people before she knew who I was." His eyes glazed at the memory. "I basically decided I hated her, but as we interacted at school and decided to get married so we could use one another for our own gain, we actually started getting along."

Arthur blinked in shock. "What an interesting beginning, who's idea was it?"

"Hers actually," Mordred smirked. "I wasn't all that interested at first but figured if I married it would get Morgous off my back and allow me more freedom."

"I've never pegged Mythian to be the type to think up such a thing" Arthur said in shock.

"I told you she isn't the typical woman," Mordred grinned.

Arthur nodded and laughed a little "Clever and beautiful, so will be your daughter, your going to have your hands full"

"You have no idea," Mordred laughed. "But it'll be fun."

"That's a good way to look at it " Arthur agreed chuckling.

"How did you meet the queen?" Mordred asked, shifting to look at Arthur.

Arthur tapped the balcony. "It was an arranged marriage, we were lucky to love each other though"

"Yeah," he agreed. Watching the king out of the corner of his eye, Mordred asked, "What was it like being the brother of Morgous and Morgana?"

Arthur laughed once and shook his head "Morgana wasn't so bad, she was annoying as sisters can be, but that is to be expected, your mother however, Has always been rather cold"

Mordred nodded slowly. "I can see that. What is Morgana like? I don't see her often and she's usually with Morgous when she visits."

Arthur nods understanding "she's very calculating, she used to always be calm, but now she can switch from being calm to having a fit of insanity like a switch was pulled"

"Really?" That surprised Mordred. "Morgana always seems so level. But it makes sense considering the family...no offense." Frowning, he traced a pattern on the railing. "What side is she on? Morgous's or yours?"

"She seems to be neutral" Arthur said and nodded.

"That's a relief," Mordred sighed, relaxing. "I don't want to deal with her as well as Morgous."

Arthur nodded "the two of them together would be disastrous"

"That's a bit of an understatement," Mordred shook his head. "Dealing with Morgous alone is a disaster. Both of them would destroy me."

"and Camelot" arthur nodded and sighed "your the heir Mordred. Do you accept that?"

"I don't know," Mordred admitted after a moment. "I don't think I'm suited for the throne."

"what makes you say that?" arthur asked, watching Mordred

"My personality for one," the young man replied. "My magic for another and the fact that I'm not fond of dealing with nobility. Then there's the fact that most of Camelot won't want me as king."

"they will warm to you as i have, but Mordred, Lady Mythian has a good name among the people, they'd want her as queen"
