"You knew being married to me wouldn't be easy," Mordred reminded her. "I'll be around; I promise."

Mythian nodded and sighed, "fine then" she said and curled up in the sheets frowning,

"You were the one who wanted me to train," Mordred sighed as he opened the door. "I'll be around sometime near lunch."

Mythian nodded "I'll miss you"

"I'll miss you too," he replied as he left the room. Setting his jaw, he strode down the hall, determined to find Merlin and convince him to help him train.

Merlin was already up and making a pot of tea in his cottage.

"Merlin," Mordred called, knocking on the door. "Can we talk?"

Merlin opened his door. "What do you want?"

"I need you to train me," Mordred replied, adjusting his stance in such a way that it prevented the older man from closing the door.

Merlin scowled "why should I help you?"

Mordred glowered back. "Your king has accepted me," he pointed out. "Why can't you? What did I do to make you hate me?"

"The prophecy was enough" Merlin said.

Mordred's eyes flashed red as another three strands of the rope snapped. "To hell with the prophecy, Emrys!" he snarled, using the name given by Merlin's power. "The only ones determined to see it through are you and my mother!"

Merlin crossed his arms. "I will help you control your magic, that is all"

Mordred rolled his eyes. "Well aren't you wise and considerate," he muttered, keeping his eyes red as a warning. His patience with the old man was almost completely gone and he wasn't about to hide the fact.

Merlin thought for a moment "did you try controlling it yet?"

"Once last night," Mordred replied, stepping inside and allowing Merlin to close the door.

Merlin did close the door and nodded "How did it go?"

"I was able to keep it contained, but it was difficult," Mordred shrugged. Tugging at the fraying rope around his wrist, he added, "I doubt this will last more than one more day."

Merlin nodded "I see... have Mythian put this on Ruth next time you see her." Merlin said giving Mordred a silver necklace with a green pendant. "It'll help Ruth to keep her powers inside of her, right now she can not learn to control them, so they burst out of her and attract yours"

Mordred accepted the pendant carefully, studying it before slipping it into his pocket. "So how are you going to train me? See if I can keep from drawing on your power?"

Merlin nodded "until you get the hang of it, yes"

"Can I take this rope off?" Mordred asked.

Merlin nodded. "Yes, for now"

Tugging the rope off, Mordred gasped as he felt his magic rear up. "It's never been this strong," he commented once he was adjusted to the change. "It's amazing."

Merlin frowned "You have gained much of your daughters power"

Summoning a small spark of fire, Mordred frowned. "It still feels like mine, though." As he spun the spark in his hand, he asked, "Will my power stay at this level?"
