Rolling over to face her, Mordred met her gaze, eyes serious. "Promise that you won't let me be like my parents."


Expression gentle, Eve stroked his cheek. "I'm honored."

Mythian nodded "I promise" she said then kissed him "Mordred...?"

Sham kissed her cheek several times "it is I who should be honored."

"What is it, Myth?" he asked, searching her face with concern.


Eve smiled and kissed his cheek. "Off to work with you. We can't slack on our last day."

Mythian stared at him then sighed "My back hurts quiet a bit, would you rub it?"

Sham pouted "why not?" He smiled a little "I'll miss you" he said kissing her slowly then leaving,

"Sure," he nodded. Slowly, gently he began to knead her back. "How's that?"


As she watched him leave, Eve put her fingers to her lips. "I'll miss you too," she whispered. Smiling faintly, she returned to work.

Mythian moved away and laid on her stomach. "Thank you"

Hilly dropped a large pot in the kitchen, "OW!" she yelled as it clattered to the floor.

"Anything for the Red Lady," Mordred smiled.

Gawain winced as he entered the kitchen. "What are you doing?"

Mythian closed her eyes for a moment, "I love you"

Hilly smiled, she only wore Gawain's shirt again. "Making Gawain biscuits, ham, and eggs!"

"I know," Mordred smirked. "I love you too."


Gawain raised an eyebrow. "You don't need to. There are servants here."

Mythian smiled "did I ever tell you that your my favorite husband?" She teased.

Hilly shook her head "no no I want too!"

"I'd hope so," Mordred replied. "All the effort I put into this marriage."

"Okay. Okay," Gawain soothed. Glancing at the pot he asked, "When will it be ready?"

Mythian grinned "especially the effort at night"

"Oh soon, O was just putting this spare pot back"

"Especially then," Mordred smirked.

Gawain nodded. "Do you want me to help?"

Mythian laughed a little then moved to look at him. She put his hand on her stomach.

Hilly shook her head "nope!"

Mordred stared at where his hand rested against her skin. There was a life there, one he didn't want to destroy. He pulled back after a moment.

"I'll be in the dining room then?" Gawain half asked.

Mythian frowned a little "are you okay?"

Hilly nodded "yup! You wait! I only need ten minutes!"

"I'm still not comfortable around new life," he admitted softly.

Nodding, Gawain retreated to the dining hall, silently shaking his head in amusement.

Mythian nodded "will you be okay once it gets here?"

About ten minutes later, Hilly came running up with a tray, she reached across the table and set it in front f Gawain, she then climbed onto the table, and sat behind the trey, she lifted the cover and set it beside her, "look it's great!"

"I don't know," he muttered.


"It does look good," Gawain agreed, hoping it tasted better than the pastry she had made earlier.

Mythian sat up "well your okay being with me, why wouln t you be okay with your child?"

Hilly took the fork and scooped up some eggs then shoved them into his mouth "aren't they wonderful?! She asked excitedly, even though the tasted over cooked,

"It's different," he argued. "You're an equal and I know you can take care of yourself. The child...I'm scared of breaking it somehow."

Gawain swallowed as quickly as he could. "Not bad," he managed.

Mythian raised an eyebrow "Mordred, I can hardly care for myself, if you wanted to harm me.,, you could."

Hilly frowned hearing his answer "it's terrible isn't it..."

Mordred sighed, shaking his head. "It's different, Myth. I just can't describe it. And...and I'm worried that being my child will ruin its future."


Gawain shook his head. "Not terrible. You just need a little practice."

Mythian shook her head "it may be your child but it is also mine Mordred. this baby will have trouble, yes, but you are so strong...if it has even half the strength you do, it will be able to handle anything that is thrown at it"

Hilly shook her head putting her face in her hands, "i'm sorry" she said

Mordred offered her a small, grateful smile. "Thank you, Mythian." Leaning forward, he kissed her. "For always being here."


Putting a hand on her head, Gawain laughed. "Why are you apologizing? The only way people learn is through practice. You'll be fine."

Mythian kissed him slowly. "I don't need a thanks, you are here for me"

Hilly shook her head bursting into tears "but I keep making you eat this terrible food!"

"Then we're even," Mordred smiled.


Gawain shook his head. "It's not terrible, Hilly. It just needs a little work. I'm sure some of the servants back in Camelot will help you learn."

Mythian nodded.

Hilly shook her head again "I'll never be able to get it!"

With one last kiss, Mordred rose and stretched. "I'm going to train after breakfast. Would you mind making sure Gawain is alright and that he's ready to travel? I don't trust Hilly's ability to judge that."


Gawain pulled her into his arms. "Yes you will," he soothed. "You have plenty of time to learn. Besides, I want you to learn. It'll be nice to have you cooking."

Mythian nodded, she watched him, her stomach was beginning to poke out now.

Hilly kissed him "I love you, and I'm sorry I can't do it right"
