Arthurian Legend RP

Mythian yanked away from Mordred and stalked away to the dinning hall then sat in e furthest seat from Mordred.

"Bit of a moist one, aye?" Gareth asked as he watched Mythian.

Mordred sighed. "That's an understatement. It's not like I'm cutting her off forever; that's punishment for me too."

Gawain shook his head. "She'll come around." Under his breath he added, "Hopefully."

Gareth shook his head  then laughed cheerfully "women, you can't live with them, can't live without them"

"No kidding," Mordred muttered, sliding into a chair and yawning. Absently, he began picking at the food set on the table. "Gareth, what are Mother and Agravain up to? Do you know?"

Gareth shrugged "you know how they are with their secrets, but whatever it is, it's big"

Gawain and Mordred exchanged glances and Gawain shook his head in answer to a silent question. Mordred dropped his gaze. "I'm not actually all that hungry. You three go ahead and eat. There's something I need to do."

As Mordred left, Gawain frowned and concern and fury glinting in his eyes. "What kind of family do we have?" he snarled under his breath.

Mythian frowned but stood and followed Mordred in silence.

Gareth began eating "They only just married and yet they are already having problems" he shook his head.

Mordred went straight for the beach, power rolling off him and disturbing the shadows and wind. Merlin wasn't going to help; he'd expected as such and Gawain had just confirmed it. No matter. He'd get stronger by himself.

Gawain shook his head. "I doubt it's as bad as you think. They're struggling with something else, not their marriage."

Mythian stood behind Mordred watching him, she could almost feel his power as she reached out and touched his back.

"How would you know?" Gareth asked with a raised eyebrow.

Mordred didn't turn as he asked, "Why aren't you at breakfast?"


"I'm trying to help them as best I can," Gawain replied. Eyes sad, he sighed. "Unfortunately, it won't be easy to fix."

Mythian wrapped her arms around Mordred from behind. "are you angry with me?"

"Well what is the problem?" Gareth asked.

Mordred shook his head. "Not at all, my dear. Just worried about what the future holds."

Gawain hesitated. "It's not my place to say. If you truly want to know, you'll have to ask Mordred."

Mythian moved around Mordred and looked up at him "Please do not spend to much time thinking of the bad to come Mordred"

Gareth winced, his younger brother had always been...aloof, and wasn't one to share.

"I know," he sighed meeting her gaze. His eyes were red with power. "But I need to be ready, so I can protect our family." Eyes narrowing, he snarled, "Besides, I'm not a pawn."

Gawain nodded, guessing Gareth's thoughts. "He is difficult, but if you actually care, he might just open up a little. I've been able to get through to him more and more lately." Expression becoming more serious, he added, "But do not get involved unless you really do care for his well-being and future. Otherwise he will reject you as he has our mother, Agravain, Arthur, and Merlin."

Mythian stroked Mordred's cheek and sighed. "Yes, your a stubborn one, Mordred, perhaps it would be safer for you to remain out of your mothers way..."

Gareth nodded then frowned "is it dangerous?"

Mordred leaned into her touch. "She isn't done with me, not yet. There'll be no avoiding her when she decides it's time to make the next move."

"Yes," Gawain stated simply.

Mythian sighed resting her head on his chest. "Mordred, why is she doing this to you?"

"I have to think about it...I have a wife of my own, you know?" Gareth said with a frown.

"I'm the son of King Arthur; his only son," Mordred sighed, wrapping his arms around her. "I'm her way to the throne of Camelot. To her, that's the only reason I'm alive."

Gawain nodded. "I know." He offered his younger brother a small smile. "I'd rather you think it over than jump in, anyway."

Mythian buried her face in his chest "it's not favor, just when I get happiness there she is trying to take it away"

Gareth nodded "does it involve mother?"

"I know how you feel," Mordred murmured, stroking her hair. "But we'll get through it, I promise. I'll win."

Gawain's jaw clenched and anger flickered in his eyes. "Yes. She's part of the main problem."

Mythian shook her head "how do you know you will win?"

Garth winced "That is dangerous..."

"Because I refuse to lose," Mordred replied. "Merlin said that with enough training, I'd be strong enough. Though..." he trailed off, closing his eyes with a sigh.

"No kidding," Gawain agreed. "And those two are taking the brunt of it. Especially Mordred."

"What is it?" Mythian asked looking up at Mordred now.

Gareth sighed running a hand through his hair "mother was always trying to make Mordred her puppet.

"Merlin claimed it would take years, something we don't have, and that was with an experienced teacher." Mordred dropped his gaze and the wind picked up, mirroring his frustration. "I only have books to rely on; Merlin's refused his help."

Gawain nodded. "Exactly." Weighed down with concern and stress, Gawain dropped his head onto his arms.

Mythian frowne looking away "there music be some way..._

Gareth bit his lip "maybe you should stick around here for a while, Mythian is expecting, and Mordred is busy, they could use help"

Mordred shrugged. "I don't know of one. But I will train." Placing a hand on her cheek, he forced a smile. "Go and eat something, Mythian. You carry another life."

Gawain shook his head. "If I could, I would, but I'm a knight of Camelot, Gareth. It is not a job I can abandon and I've already been away for some time. Arthur isn't pleased with me spending time and supporting Mordred."

Mythian frowned "why went you come eat as well? You need to keep up your strength"

"But Brother.,,he is our brother, family, and his wife needs protection..." Gareth said nervously, hw

Mordred shook his head. "I'll eat later. Right now I think I'd accidentally tear the place apart."

"Don't you think I know that?" Gawain snapped, eyes blazing as he lifted his head to glare at Gareth. Voice gentling, he continued, "But I'm also the only possible chance Mordred has at gaining a decent relationship with Camelot." Dropping his head back down he groaned. "I don't know what more I can do either way."

Mythian sighed "would you like something brought out to you?

Gareth nodded thinking "why is mother so keen on getting her way with Mordred? Are the rumors true maybe?"

"No point in scaring the servants," Mordred replied. "I'll come in when I'm hungry. Tell my brothers I'm sorry."

Not bothering to lift his head, Gawain sighed. "You need to ask Mordred. It's his story, not mine."
