Art hurt nodded then sighed "she isn't properly dressed" he said, easily spotting that Hilly had no corset.

Hilly moved behind Gawain a little.

Taking Mordred's letter from his pocket, Gawain passed it over. "I received this two days ago. I thought you should read it."

Arthur took the letter and reas through "he...has a daughter?"

"That's right," Gawain confirmed. Watching his uncle closely, he added, "I thought you'd want to know you have a granddaughter, maybe even see her?"

Arthur ran a hand through his hair "if Mordred would allow it, I would like to see her"

A weight lifted off of Gawain's shoulders. It wasn't much, but it was a start. "You can send a messenger asking for permission to visit," he suggested. "I don't think Mordred will turn you down. I'm willing to bet he wants you to visit. He may be nervous though."

Arthur shook his head "I'll have him come here, I can not leave the kingdom for now, and I would like to show up who Mordred is married too...lady Mythian does have a nice reputation"

Gawain nodded slowly. "He'll probably be hesitant, but he'll come." Studying Arthur's expression, he asked, "Do you plan on speaking with him and trying to work things out? It's been several months since you last saw each other."

Arthur shrugged "I'd rather avoid bringing up past problems"

"So long as you intend to accept him and stop acting like he's nothing but a burden," Gawain shrugged. "If you can get along with him, then the chance of him becoming a threat will go down."

Scooping her into his arms, Gawain kissed her cheek. "Of course." He met her gaze. "You forgot the rule about touching things," he scolded lightly. "Other than that and the dress, you did well."

"The thing you were looking at was a letter opener, not a knife," Gawain clarified. "And most nobles carry a weapon on them at all times, knights and kings especially. It's not uncommon for us to be attacked so we need to be able to defend ourselves."

"Some people prefer to use them instead of opening letters with their hands," Gawain shrugged.

"You're a noble's wife, Hilly," Gawain explained, gently. "There are certain events where you'll need to wear dresses like that for several hours."
