Mythian frowned "what if I brought it out to you?"

Gareth nodded sighing. "What a family we've got..."

Mordred smiled at her and kissed her cheek. "If it would make you feel better, my dear."

"Agreed," Gawain muttered.

Mythian grinned and nodded  Iwill bring myself out a plate as well" she said then walked back up to the castle. She went and had one of the servants prepare a basket for her to tale out, then walked back our to Mordred with the basket of food.

Gareth leaned back silently,

Mordred was standing at the edge of the water, eyes closed, body rigid, and the air around him full of energy. Suddenly he lifted his right hand and gestured towards the water. A wave rose, huge and dark, before crashing down around him, carving deep trenches in the sand. Shadows lashed out, flinging sand high to be caught and turned into miniature missiles by the wind.


Gawain glanced at him. "Do you intend to speak with him?"

Mythian stood back, watching in amazement. She then sat down and called out."Mordred?"

Gareth sighed "I don't know"

Shaking water from his hair, Mordred glanced back at her. "Yes?"

Gawain nodded. "It might help you decide if you want to get involved or not. Even if you choose not to, you'll at least know what to avoid in our family. But ultimately it's your choice to see him or not."

Mythian raised the basket a little "I have the food"

Gareth nodded "Well I will see him regardless, he is our brother!'

Slowly, he made his way over to her and flopped onto the ground. Taking the basket, he took a loaf of bread and used a shadow to cut it into pieces; he'd use anything as training by this point.

Gawain smiled tiredly. "You're the only one who seems to think that way besides me." Glancing at the door, he added, "You'll probably be able to talk to him in the afternoon."

Mythian smiled a little "your already very good"

Gareth nodded "are you staying till then?

"I'm far from where I need to be, but thank you," Mordred replied, offering her a slice of the bread.

"I don't know," Gawain admitted. "I need to head back to Camelot soon." Focusing on Gareth, he asked, "Why?"

Mythian took the slice and ate small lady like bites "thank you"

Gareth shrugged "just wondering"

Mordred nodded and continued to eat in silence. When he was done, he kissed Mythian lightly before returning to his training on the beach.

Gawain nodded absently. "The sooner I leave the better," he decided. Rising, he bowed to Gareth. "Let me know what you decide, brother. Take care of yourself."

Mythian smiled and leaned back watching Mordred, falling asleep after awhile.

Gareth nodded "it was good seeing you"

Mordred hardly noticed, losing himself completely to his magic.

"You too," Gawain smiled. "Don't forget to talk to him before you leave," he called over his shoulder as he left to saddle his horse and ride for Camelot.

Mythian curled up, show shivering on the ground.

Gareth nodded "of course,  I wish you well"

Shadows pressing against him alerted Mordred. Allowing his power to die away he went over to Mythian and carefully gathered her into his arms. Careful not to wake her, he headed inside, planning on letting her sleep in their room.

Mythian curled into Mordred's warmth "mmm"

"Shhh," he soothed. "Rest, my lady."

Mythian nodded and clung to Mordred.

Using a shadow, he opened their bedroom door. When he reached the bed he did the same to move the blankets back. Gently laying her down, he pulled the blankets up around her and kissed her forehead. "I love you, my Red Lady. Sleep well."

"I love you" Mythian said quietly before falling back asleep right away.

Carefully closing the door behind him, Mordred took a deep breath, silently renewing his vow to protect his family and hoping that Gawain wouldn't be dragged to far with them. Then, shaking his head to clear his thoughts, he strode through the castle intending to return to the beach and train.

Gareth saw Mordred then took a breath and walked over "Mordred, do you got a minute?"

Mordred blinked, surprised, but nodded. "Yes. Why? Do you need something?"

Gareth sighed "what is happening with you and Mother?"

Instantly Mordred's expression became guarded. "Why do you ask, Gareth?"

"I know there is something being hidden from my eyes Mordred_ Gareth said crossing his arms.

"Just because something's hidden from you doesn't mean you need to know about it," Mordred retorted. His trust was not easily gained, especially when it came to his family. While he had very little quarrel with Gareth, that didn't mean he was willing to expose his weaknesses and troubles.

Gareth sighed "Brother, we are family, you may not share my values, but we need to look after one another,please, what is burdening you?

"Does the same thing apply to half siblings?" Mordred asked, testing Gareth's reactions.
