"So now we're lost in a town full of monsters."

Tammy's heart skipped a beat when she heard a howl in the distance.

"We should move. I want to get out of here before dark if we can."

"We need to find a place with a lock and a weapon."

"Do you still have that knife? Also, I'm not sure how much help a lock is going to be against these…things."

"They'd just break down the door. We need a long distance weapon, like a gun. I doubt we'd find one lying on the ground though," Tammy said with a sigh.

"If we could find a gun store, then we'd be out of town already and it wouldn't matter. Remember, no one's lived here for almost two centuries, any guns ever sold here would be old fashioned, ball-and-round muskets."

Tammy blinked, a worried and confused look on her face.

"What? How?" she burst out, mostly to herself.

"I don't know, but there has to be something we can use. Maybe in a neighboring town."

"But where?" Tammy stood up. "Maybe we should just keep walking. See what we can find," she suggested, swallowing.

The sun was almost gone now. A piercing shriek filled the air, alerting them to another monster somewhere in the area. Tammy jumped.

"We should go," she said.

A crash sounded behind them, and Bear growled at the unseen creature.

A snarl came from the bushes next to them, and Bear barked.

Suddenly, a large beast jumped out of the bushes. It had grey, shaggy hair, large, yellow eyes, and sharp fangs. It growled, saliva dripping from its gruesome maw. Tammy screamed.

Alexis quickly grabbed Bear and forced him to start running, with her following.

The beast crashed through the woods after them, snarling. Tammy buried her face in Alexis' shoulder.
