Background: Her mother was a witch, her father is muggle. Her father knew nothing about the wizarding world until Elaina got her Hogwarts letter, and it came as a huge shock. After he found out, a rift appeared between them, and he estranged himself from his daughter. Elaina's mother died when Elaina was nine of a seemingly incurable sickness. Elaina had always known she was a witch, and had always shown an affinity for potions. She had been working on a cure when her mother died, and the potion was complete two days later. She blames herself for her mother's death. Ever since, she's always carried a satchel of completed potions, vials, and raw ingredients with her wherever she goes, making sure that she is prepared if anything like that ever happens again.
