So, the first sentence of every single story you ever read makes an impact on whether you start reading the rest. The ending makes an impact on how you feel about the story.
So find a completed fanfiction/story/novel and write the very first sentence here and the last sentence here. Even if either sentence is one word. Just write the first and the last. Let's see what kind of impact it can leave with just two sentences.
The Fellowship of the Ring
When Mr. Bilbo Baggins of Bag End announced that he would shortly be celebrating his eleventy-first birthday with a party of special magnificence, there was much talk and excitement in Hobbiton.
Then shouldering their burdens, they set off, seeking a path that would bring them over the grey hills of the Emyn Muil, and down into the Land of Shadow.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
When I wake up, the other side of the bed is cold.
I take his hand, holding on tightly, preparing for the cameras, and dreading the moment when I will finally have to let go.

Born on a Blue Day
I was born on January 31, 1979-- a Wednesday.
It would be like having a glimpse of heaven.
